More scientific information:

The Aluminum Chlorohydrates are complex inorganic salts that consist of aluminum and hydrogen chloride. These compounds are polymeric, bound loosely to water and include a range of aluminum to chloride ratios from 2.1-1.9 to 1 for the Chlorohydrate, from 1.25-0.9 to 1 for the Dichlorohydrate, and from 1.9-1.25 to 1 for the Sesquichlorohydrate.

Aluminum Chlorohydrate is also used as a flocculant in water purification.
